The best quality of famous raw-silk of Bhutan comes from Radhi, which is in Trashigang district. Raw silk is made from cocoons of wild moths as Bhutanese people do not cultivate silkworms. Due to religious beliefs, Bhutanese people do not use cocoons while the larvae still inhabit it, but collect only those which have been abandoned by the fully grown moth. The raw-silk is a coarse, durable and highly sought-after fabric woven in to various textiles priced according to the intricacy of the weaves.
